1. Frank Reich, Eagles Offensive Coordinator

Wednesday morning, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reported the Colts were expected to request an interview with Reich. That interview is reportedly now in line to happen on Friday.

Reich just finished his second season as Philadelphia’s offensive coordinator, and helping orchestrate a Super Bowl winning-offense will surely elevate his already rising profile as a head coaching candidate. He was previously with the San Diego Chargers as quarterbacks coach (2013), then offensive coordinator (2014-2015), and with the Arizona Cardinals as wide receivers coach in 2012.

Reich started his coaching career with the Colts back in 2008 as an offensive assistant. He then served as Indianapolis’ quarterbacks coach for two seasons (2009 and 2010), with Peyton Manning as his star pupil, and then as their wide receivers coach for one season (2011).

Reich has never been a head coach. But his wide range of experience as a wide receivers coach, a quarterbacks coach and an offensive coordinator — not to mention his lengthy career as an NFL QB — gives him a nice-looking resume for head coaching jobs. He’ll surely be a top candidate to make the jump around this time next year, so now looks like the time for the Colts to get Reich when they have the only job opening in the league.
