Troy Terry is not a household name right now by any means, but he will be before the Olympics conclude. Why? We tell you.

Due to the NHL not allowing their players to participate in the Olympics, players who haven’t signed a NHL contract yet are being given the opportunity to play for their country, on the world’s biggest stage.

Troy Terry is one of the few lucky enough to get this opportunity, as he was one of the players selected to this years Team USA Men’s Ice Hockey team. Terry is a 20-year-old, fifth-round draft pick of the Anaheim Ducks. He currently attends and plays for the University of Denver, where he is in his third year.

While this will undoubtedly be an amazing experience for Terry, he is no stranger to the International stage, playing for USA Hockey several times. He was a member of the U.S. U17 Team in 2013, where he skated in all his team’s games, and helped his team win the tournament.

His success carried over into 2014, where he was a member of the U.S. U18 Team, and the U.S. National U18 team. He played for the U.S. National U18 Team again in 2015, where he had three points in four games at the U18 Five Nations Tournament. That same season concluded by playing in the U18 World Championship, where he had four points in seven games.

In 2017 he had possibly the most success of his career in International games, where he helped Team USA capture the gold medal in the World Junior Championships. The final two games, against Russia and Canada, went to a shootout, where he went a combined 4-4 in both games.

You can see three of those four goals below:

The fourth goal can be seen below, the one that won it all for Team USA:

But the International stage is not the only place he has had success. In fact, he has thrived in his time at the University of Denver, winning numerous awards and titles.

Just this season, he was named a finalist for the Hobey Baker Memorial Award, given to the best player in all of College Hockey.

He helped his team win the NCAA National Championship in the 2016-17 season. Furthermore, he lead Denver University in scoring and was named to the All-Frozen Four Team, earned All-NCHC Honorable Mention honors, and was named the NCHC Offensive Player of the Week on two separate occasions.
