4. Arizona Cardinals

The season may have just ended but the Arizona Cardinals have already seen more than their fair share of change and more could be on the way. Both head coach Bruce Arians and quarterback Carson Palmer decided to retire, wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald has yet to indicate if he will follow suit, and there will likely be some veteran names cut due to bloated salaries.

Newly-minted head coach Steve Wilks will have his hands full this upcoming season with all the changes Arizona has had. One person who could help stabilize a shaky environment is Drew Brees. The team would know exactly the kind of player they would be getting instead of trying to take a quarterback in the draft and start him right away or fall back on an uninspiring veteran like a Case Keenum.

As far as Brees is concerned, Arizona probably isn’t in as good a spot as some of the other teams on this list. The defense has some holes and the receiving corps is non-existent, especially if Fitzgerald decides to call it a career. Wouldn’t it be great to see one of the best receivers ever go out with a great quarterback? One of the hallmarks of Fitzgerald’s career is the number of very poor quarterbacks he’s had to play with.

Kurt Warner and Palmer have really been the only exceptions. If Arizona could land Brees, they could form a lethal trio with Brees, Fitzgerald and star running back David Johnson. They may be a little further away from competing with the class of the NFC but the Cardinals have plenty to offer the veteran quarterback.
