Los Angeles Chargers free agency 2018: Top 5 targets
4. Chris Hubbard
Matt Slauson’s contract is also up, but Los Angeles gets their second pick from a year ago, Forest Lamp, back from injury. Lamp is probably best off at guard, but could also play tackle. Fellow second year player Dan Feeney is now entrenched as the Chargers’ other starting guard. Offensive line has been a problem for this team for quite a while now and this unit could really still stand adding a starting caliber right tackle and center.
Hubbard was a high-quality sixth man for Pittsburgh over the past few seasons, but got a lot of playing time at right tackle this year when Marcus Gilbert missed time. Hubbard isn’t a superstar and is on the short side for an offensive tackle.
In fact, he could be even better off at guard. But Hubbard is a quality player nonetheless that is only 26-years-old. Between Lamp and Hubbard, Los Angeles should finally have a sturdy right side of the line. Signing a guy like Hubbard also should not hold Los Angeles back from adding a prototypical offensive tackle in the draft.
