Olympics Luge Doubles Final live stream, start time, TV channel
By Staff
Here is everything you need to know to watch the doubles luge competition at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea.
Doubles luge will be the third of four luge events to award out medals at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang. The event is different from the singles in an obvious way, there are two riders, one laying on top of the other.
The scoring is also slightly different. The winner is still determined by fastest cumulative time over all the runs, but instead of four runs over two days, doubles compete over two runs in a single day.
The first run begins at 6:20 a.m. ET and the second runs begin at 7:40 a.m. ET. After those two runs, a winner will be crowned champion.
The United States has two teams competing in the doubles, Matt Mortensen and Jayson Terdiman, as well as Justin Krewson and Andrew Sherk. Mortensen and Terdiman are the more experienced pair and competed together at the 2014 Winter Games in Sochi.
Historically, the luge has been dominated by Germany, who’ve won 10 out of 15 gold medals awarded at the Winter Olympics. They’ve also recorded four silver and six bronze medals for a total of 20. Austria has the second most total Olympic medals in double luge with just eight.
