4. Refs are drafted to a team too

There are already enough strange people out there who think refs are for or against different teams. Joey Crawford hated Tim Duncan. Angrilah Savage was all about giving Grant Hill three shot fouls when he was dunking. Jeremy Upupslam once tried to eject Stephen Jackson for the Malice at the Palace three years after the event.

So if these things are maybe or maybe not happening, let’s just bring them all out into the open. Right before the game starts, each captain gets to pick one ref to give them the benefit of all calls. We didn’t get to see the teams pick players, so we need some sort of consolation prize for all the complaining we did.

Here’s the thing about complaining. It’s always worthwhile. It’s like that one line in that one movie, “Wow, he sure complains a lot, but damn it he gets results. Let’s build him a cake.” That line could be said about you if you just throw away your pride and take everyone to task for every slight, real or imagined.

That’s what NBA Twitter does on a daily basis. There’s a lot of moaning and whining and passive-aggressive shots at other teams and fanbases. Sometimes it makes you wonder if there’s any point to it. Well, there is. There’s a cake.

We established that earlier.

So now if calls go against your team, you have no one to blame but your team. They just picked the wrong ref. Turn those complaints inward and then you have an excuse to get your own cake. You know what flavors you like best. It all works out.
