1. Mike White

White was given the unenviable task of replacing Billy Donovan at Florida. But the Gators can put up a third straight 20-win season (17-10 record) under White this year, and they have a solid chance to make the NCAA Tournament for the second straight season as of right now.

But White’s Ole Miss roots are pretty deep, as a player and a long-time assistant coach (2004-2011) under Kennedy as well as his predecessor Rod Barnes. White moved on to become the head coach at Louisiana Tech, and he had a 101-40 record (.716 winning percentage) with three regular season conference titles in four seasons.

Contract specifics and any value attached to familiarity with the SEC aside, going from Florida to Ole Miss could be considered a slight step down for White. But being an alum of the school, with history on Kennedy’s staff that elevated him to head coaching jobs, might even that conversation out for him.

People who matter in the athletic department at Ole Miss should already be doing some behind-the-scenes work on White. With rules and (most importantly) protocol etiquette in mind, of course.
