Round 4 – Pick 118

Ian Thomas, TE, Indiana

Kansas City has arguably the best tight end in football with Travis Kelce, but there’s not much behind him. The Chiefs have been trying to develop Demetrius Harris into a quality second option for years, but in his four-year career, Harris has 441 yards and three touchdowns.

Andy Reid loves two and three-tight end sets, making Thomas a perfect mid-round selection. At 6-foot-5 and 248 pounds, Thomas gives the Chiefs a willing blocker who can make the occasional catch in space. Last season, the Maryland native caught 25 passes for 376 yards and five touchdowns. Thomas projects to be a good red zone target, something Harris hasn’t become due to shaky hands.

Thomas is raw and could take a year to develop, but that’s alright. Harris has one year left on his deal, allowing Thomas to mature while he’s third on the depth chart. After that, look for the Indiana product to see real playing time in an offense designed to take advantage of his talents.
