Winter Olympics medal count update: Wednesday, February 21
By Mike Dyce
The latest medal winners have gotten their hardware and here is how the 2018 Winter Olympics medal count stands after Wednesday, February 21.
The United States is back! After slipping in the overall medal count with the surgence of France, Team USA had a big Wednesday to win four medals and move into a tie with the Netherlands for fourth place.
But the United States’ 16 medals is less than half of Norway’s total, who sit in first place with 33 overal medals.
But it was still a big day for the United States nonetheless. Skiier Lindsey Vonn came back and won bronze in the women’s downhill skiing. The women’s bobsled team won silver. And the women’s free spring cross-country skiing team won a gold medal. The USA won bronze in the women’s team pursuit speed skating.
Norway also won four medals on the day, including two gold medals.
Finland won bronze in the women’s hockey tournament but the gold medal game hasn’t been played yet.
The Netherlands picked up two medals in the two speedskating events.
