Rick Nash has wild home debut for Bruins (Video)
Some debated whether or not the trade for Rick Nash was worth it for the Boston Bruins, but the former Ranger is off to a good start in his new home.
The Boston Bruins’ trade for Rick Nash this past week was heavily debated on social media, with plenty of hockey fans saying the black and gold overpaid for the former New York Rangers superstar. Others took the opposite approach, applauding the team for going all-in on a potential run at a Stanley Cup over the next few months.
Nash may have heard all of the chatter surrounding his transition from the Big Apple to Beantown, but it looks like he’s excited about the opportunity to play for a winner to finish out the 2017-18 season. He’s already said it, but now he’s showing it on the ice in his first game in Boston.
During the first period of his home debut at TD Garden on Tuesday night, Nash went off in the first period for the Bruins against the Carolina Hurricanes. Almost right off the bat, Nash showed off his defensive prowess with a crazy stick save to help keep things scoreless early in the game.
A few minutes later, Nash flipped the script and showed his talents offensively, scoring the Bruins’ first goal of the game to tie things up with the Hurricanes at 1-1.
If Nash can keep this pace up, Bruins fans will definitely be happy with the whole situation surrounding the trade, no matter how much they had to give up to get there. At the same time, you’ll probably see all those against the trade go back into their shells and forget they ever said anything about the aging winger.

No matter what, the biggest winner of all of this is definitely Nash, who will likely see his career rejuvenated as he continues to get used to the new uniform.
