3. Wide Receiver

Michael Thomas is a star and has developed into a true number one receiver. He and Brees keep getting better and better together. Ted Ginn was a very useful free agent addition, after being swiped from the division rival Panthers.

Ginn is extremely dangerous and this offense has employed a true burner very well over the years, but he isn’t a well-rounded player and more concerning, is approaching 33-years-old. Willie Snead is a restricted free agent and his role diminished massively in 2017.

Brandon Coleman played quite a bit last year and Tommylee Lewis has some obvious juice, but this unit is far too Thomas-dependent. Thomas can line up all over the formation, but with Ginn still in the mix, the Saints might be best served focusing on a wide receiver that does his best work from the slot.

With Brees in his twilight, the Saints have to do everything they can to amplify his talents until retirement. Adding some more help alongside Thomas would be a boon for this offense, which suddenly is going through the dynamic backfield duo of Alvin Kamara and Mark Ingram.
