4. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The Buccaneers were arguably the most disappointing team in the NFL last season, with a 5-11 record putting them at the bottom of the NFC South. The league’s 32nd-ranked pass defense (260.6 yards per game) was a big reason for that, with a middle of the road interception total (13) and the fewest sacks in the league (22).

Tampa Bay has plenty of cap space ($70.57 million; fourth-most in the league, via Over The Cap.com). So money will be no real barrier to address their needs. Outside of an aging but still effective Brent Grimes and whatever promise 2016 first-round pick Vernon Hargreaves still has, cornerback is a pressing need when something named Ryan Smith starts 10 games as he did in 2017.

Grimes is also slated to become a free agent, though not surprisingly the Buccaneers would reportedly like him back. But if Grimes leaves, then Tampa Bay absolutely has to be in on the top of the cornerback free agent market.

Pro Football Focus graded Sherman as an above average corner for last season, and he would bring credibility to the Tampa Bay secondary upon arrival. Even with an addition in free agency or possibly the draft, a potential deal sending Sherman to the Buccaneers should have a fair amount of steam before too long.
