If the Seahawks don’t want to dive in on a super-expensive tight end this offseason like Tyler Eifert from the previous slide to fill the void left by Jimmy Graham and Luke Willson’s departures, there are plenty of other options that the team can go after this offseason. For starters, Trey Burton may be their best bet.

With Zach Ertz’s emergence in the Eagles offense, including his key moment as the receiver for the game-winning catch in Super Bowl 52, things are just peachy at tight end in Philadelphia. With all of that in mind, that leaves Burton on the outside looking in, even though he was the arm behind the “Philly Special” that sparked the Eagles in their title win.

One team’s loss is obviously another team’s gain, and the Seahawks could really use the help at tight end if they can sign Burton. Russell Wilson needs some versatility in the offense to go along with his playmaking, and Burton provides just that. He’s been all over the field for the Eagles over the last few years, and is a true utility man on offense.

The Seahawks thrive when they’re playing with some variety and spontaneity in their offense, and this signing could be a step in the right direction in Seattle. Sure, signing Burton won’t be the only thing they need to do if they’re looking to re-emerge in the NFC and make their way back to the Super Bowl, but it’d signal a change that’s badly needed for the 12’s.
