Which NHL mascot would you want with you in a bar fight?

19. Nordy (Minnesota Wild)

It’s really not a surprise that the Minnesota Wild hired a “Wild” animal as their official mascot. According to Nordy’s bio on NHL.com, the Minnesota Wild discovered Nordy skating on the many frozen ponds in the state of Minnesota.

Nordy is very well-versed in fights. However, there is a chance that he could take an ordinary disagreement a little too far.

In January 2017, the Minnesota Wild celebrated Nordy’s birthday during a game against the Montreal Canadians, inviting some of their mascot friends. Nordy’s hated rival, Tommy Hawk, jokingly smashed a slice of cake in Nordy’s face. The two seemed to laugh it off until the piñata was introduced to the party of 18,000.

A blindfolded Nordy swung a bat at the piñata and conveniently hit Tommy Hawk in his stomach. One blow wasn’t enough for the Minnesota mascot. The public address announcer instructed Nordy to continue hitting Tommy Hawk as he lay on the ice. Chris Kuc of the Chicago Tribune “was glad [he] wasn’t in the stands with [his] young son.”

It was so bad that NJ Devil stepped in to end this massacre. The defenseless Tommy Hawk was dragged off the ice. Even NJ Devil had had enough and that is saying something. The Minnesota Wild issued an apology on Twitter after receiving backlash.

Nordy is too over-the-top for a bar fight. You might be flagged from the bar, but if you call Nordy for backup, you could end up behind bars.
