How Taylor Hall helped grant a cancer patient and superfan’s wish
New Jerseys Devils star Taylor Hall helped make cancer patient Nahum Flores’ wish come true.
Twelve-year-old Nahum Flores, a New Jersey Devils superfan, suffers from a brain tumor and metastatic bone cancer.
But Flores got a chance to put his disease out of his mind on Tuesday as he got to attend the Devils’ game against the Carolina Hurricanes as a special guest of his favorite player, Taylor Hall.
Flores’ incredible day was thanks to Barnabas Health Hospice, where he is a patient. The facility works to make sure patients are able to see their special wishes granted.
Hall called Flores his “good luck charm” as the Devils fought their way back to a 4-3 win over the Canes while Flores and his family were in attendance.
Flores also got some face time with the team, getting high-fives from the Devils players during warmups, and was sent home with some amazing swag, including an autographed jersey, and got to meet NJ Devil.
But the crowning event of Flores’ visit with the Devils was meeting his favorite player, Hall, after the game.
Hall was touched by the visit, per NHL.com’s Mike G. Morreale:
"“Its awesome that we have opportunity to make an impact ” Hall said. ” I think everyone’s been affected by cancer at some point in their life. If you can put a smile on someone’s face that really puts life into perspective.”“The playoff races, wins, losses become pretty minimal in times like this, but its nice to have a performance when he is here. He was a good luck charm for us.”"
