5 reasons why Winnipeg Jets will win the Stanley Cup
4. They’re young, but ready
Similar to the Pittsburgh Penguins in 2016, the Jets have an incredible group of young players, backed by solid veteran leadership. When you think of the Jets, you instantly think of their youth movement. Up front, young studs Mark Scheifele and elite sniper Patrik Laine lead the charge, both recording more than 60 points this season for the third and second times in their careers.
Not only do the Jets have Scheifele and Laine, they also possess other lethal young options such as Nikolai Ehlers and rookie Kyle Connor. Ehlers is en route to back-to-back 60 point seasons as a 22 year old, and Connor has 50 points as a rookie, sparking some Calder conversation. Rookie Jack Roslovic joined the Jets through their last 30 games, and has recorded a solid 14 points playing in a depth-scoring position.
On the back end, Jacob Trouba and Josh Morrissey have shown the team they are here to anchor the Jets’ blue line for years to come. The duo had solid seasons that saw them record more than 25 points each and at least a plus/minus rating of plus-10.
The Jets kids are shining, and are all ready to be impact players in the NHL playoffs.
