FanDuel daily picks: Fantasy baseball lineup – April 10, 2018
Catcher/First Base, High End Spend
Freddie Freeman, $4,100
.375/.438/.775 with 4 HR in 40 at-bats
Players might see the matchup against Stephen Strasburg and not even consider Freeman tonight. However, Freeman can hit against any pitcher in the game and he’s got a solid track record against Strasburg. The first baseman for Atlanta is in incredible form right now. He’s barely striking out, he’s hitting for a high average and OPS, and his wOBA is off the charts. When a hitter with the pedigree of Freeman is this locked in, he’s in consideration every night. He could be an excellent GPP play if the matchup scares everyone off.
Also Consider – Carlos Santana, $3,900
Mid-Range
Jose Martinez, $3,000
.400/.500/1.000 with 1 HR in 5 at-bats
Whenever the Cardinals draw a lefty this season, Martinez is going to be squarely in our sights. Not only does he face a lefty, but Brent Suter gives up fly balls over 32 percent of the time and hard contact at about a 32 percent clip. Combine that with Martinez having an batting average of .405, an OPS of 1.259 and a wOBA of .513. Now, that’s come in 86 career plate appearances so it’s a limited sample size to be sure. Even with a small sample, the numbers are just too good to pass at this price point. He did leave the game with an injury last night so we’ll keep an eye on that lineup card.
Also Consider – Chris Iannetta, $3,100
Value
Wilmer Flores, $2,100
0 at-bats vs Caleb Smith
I’ll always be attracted to lefty specialists when they’re basically a punt play on FanDuel. I would expect him to be popular given his tag. Over the last three seasons, Flores has 303 at-bats against lefty pitching. During that time, his triple slash line is .314/.349/.620. That’s the perfect punt play every single night.
Also Consider – Chris Davis, $2,300(BvP data and the one batter that should really scare Aaron Sanchez)
