The Minnesota Wild put themselves back in this series with a dominant 6-2 Game 3 win over the Winnipeg Jets in Minnesota.
The Winnipeg Jets came ready to play in game three. At least for the first five minutes. Blake Wheeler got the Jets on the board early with a bad-angled shot that beat Devan Dubnyk, before several penalties cost the Jets their early lead in the first. The Wild almost scored early in the second period on a shorthanded break that Connor Hellebuyck somehow kept out. Matt Dumba scored minutes later with a point shot that gave the Wild a 3-1 lead. Tyler Myers of the Jets matched Dumba with a point blast of his own to cut the Wild lead to one.
The Wild all but put this one away in the second period with back to back goals from Eric Stall (on an incredible pass from Granlund) and Jordan Greenway that was 20 seconds apart. The period went from bad to worse when Tyler Myers left with an apparent lower-body injury. Marcus Foligno scored minutes later to make it 6-2 Wild through two.
The Jets gave Hellebuyck a rest through the third, as they opened the period with Steve Mason between the pipes. He kept the game at 6-2 in a quickly played third period.
Devan Dubnyk was phenomenal all game, making big saves to keep the Wild lead intact. The Wild came to play tonight and it showed, as they rebounded well to make this a series.
