5. Isaiah Wynn — New England Patriots

Think what you will, but the Pats may have missed the mark with the selection of offensive lineman Isaiah Wynn with the 23rd pick of the first round.

The real issue with New England’s selection is their belief that Wynn can be a tackle at the next level. He did decent enough pass blocking on the edge for Georgia, but the SEC and the NFL are different animals. Wynn doesn’t seem like a player who possesses the nimble feet to deal with elite NFL pass rushers.

If you classify Wynn as a guard, you can’t help but see this as a reach by the Patriots. They could have waited until late in the second round and still drafted a player with similar skills.

With all that being said, Wynn does have a good chance to develop into a valuable starter for the Patriots in time. He could start at guard for Belichick and company for quite a few years.
