Main Slate – Yankees at Astros

Yankees Probable Starter – Luis Severino, RHP

2.61 ERA, 0.89 WHIP and 9.95 K/9

Vs LHH – .170 average, .250 wOBA and 35.5 hard contact rate

Vs RHH – .177 average, .231 wOBA and 23.7 hard contact rate

It’s too bad that Severino is facing the Houston Astros tonight because otherwise he’d be a great option to pivot away from other pitchers. However, I have a “I don’t play a pitcher against the Astros” policy and that doesn’t change tonight. In the long run, that’s not going to win you much money. Would it surprise me if Severino was good tonight? Not really as Houston strikes out their fair share against righty pitching at a 22.2 percent clip. They’re just too good of an offense to expect a pitcher to have a solid game. This game will be another game that is largely non-exsistent to me. The pitchers are good and the offenses could struggle. They could also go bonkers so it’s best to tread lightly on this one.

Astros Hitters to Target

Elite Options – None

Secondary Options – Jose Altuve, Carlos Correa

Astros Probable Starter – Dallas Keuchel, LHP

4.00 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and 7.00 K/9

Vs LHH – .259 average, .328 wOBA and 26.3 hard contact rate

Vs RHH – .246 average, .319 wOBA and 23.4 hard contact rate

I’m likely to be a bit more aggressive with Yankee hitters tonight but I’ve also never been a huge Keuchel fan. It’s always confounded me as to why he’s so unhittable some nights when the velocity isn’t crazy and the strikeout rate is just mediocre. It’s a testament to Keuchel that he’s always been so good with the arsenal he has. Keuchel has a tough task in front of him tonight. The Yankees are top 12 in almost every major offensive category and the Astros pitcher might not be able to fool hitters like Aaron Judge or Gary Sanchez. If he can’t trick them, the ball could go a very long ways away. A GPP Yankee stack makes a lot of sense because casual players will see Keuchel and pull back from playing New York.
