Early Slate Sample Lineup

P – Corey Kluber

C/1B – Brad Miller

2B – Matt Carpenter

3B – Cheslor Cuthbert

SS – Alcides Escobar

OF – Tommy Pham, Michael Brantley, Jon Jay

Utility – Jorge Soler

This is a cash game lineup, as in tournaments I’d be likelier to fade Kluber and spend on bats. With Kluber taking up such a huge chunk of salary, cheap options mostly rule the day and the Royals are awfully cheap. Escobar is just a punt but he makes the lineup work. Soler and Jay should be able to get some good production off of Pomeranz and Cuthbert is a total wild card. From there, Miller is one of the few bats you can play against Michael Fulmer and we’ll go right back to the well with our mini two man Cardinals stack. Brantley finishes the lineup off in style after his grand slam last night.

Main Slate Sample Lineup

P- Zack Godley

C/1B – Paul Goldschmidt

2B – Jed Lowrie

3B – Eugenio Suarez

SS – Jose Peraza

OF – Adam Jones, Christian Yelich, Mark Trumbo

Utility – Wilmer Flores

This is a harder lineup to set than I would have thought. Typically, when your pitcher is only $9,000, it can be easy to fit in whoever you want past that. Tonight, there’s plenty of offenses in a great spot. For now, we’ll take Goldy as he owns Ryu in their careers.Lowrie should go pretty low-owend given the matchup with Paxton but I believe he’s a good enough hitter to have a good game. We’ll take the mini two man Reds stack with Suarez and Peraza, as both have been on fire lately. Jones and Trumbo are cheap righty bats, as is Flores. Even though I like Sean Newcomb as a pitcher, he can be had and Flores should deliver. Yelich is the cherry on top against Luis Castillo.
