Main Slate – A’s at Mariners

A’s Probable Starter – Brett Anderson, LHP

Season Debut, splits are 2017

Vs LHH – .436 average, .461 wOBA and 45.5 hard contact rate

Vs RHH – .293 average, .351 wOBA and 34.6 hard contact rate

The veteran lefty is taking a spot in the Oakland rotation after Kendall Graveman got demoted last week and the Mariners offense should be able to have their way with him tonight. Anderson was good in AAA but he wasn’t facing players like Robinson Cano, Nelson Cruz and Mitch Haniger down there. I wouldn’t pay too much attention to the splits as he only faced a handful of lefties last year. This is a spot where we can go all out with a Mariners stack and I’ll try to have a decent amount of exposure this evening. I have zero faith Anderson is suddenly a pitcher players should be avoiding targeting against.

Mariners Hitters to Target

Elite Options – Nelson Cruz, Mitch Haniger, Robinson Cano

Secondary Options – Jean Segura, Dee Gordon

Mariners Probable Starter – James Paxton, LHP

5.12 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and 12.51 K/9

Vs LHH – .424 average, .534 wOBA and 34.8 hard contact rate

Vs RHH – .174 average, .255 wOBA and 32.8 hard contact rate

By the numbers, this isn’t the best matchup for Paxton. Oakland rates well against lefties and they have a lineup that has plenty of power. However, they also posses a ton of strikeout potential as they whiff almost 22 percent of the time. That’s what Paxton does best and his K/9 is the highest mark of his career. He’s been inconsistent this season. Three of his starts have been 30 FanDuel points or fewer while the other three have been over 40. Anytime Paxton is under $9,000 he’s a very interesting pitcher. Not many have the same strikeout upside that he does on a nightly basis. He’s too volatile for cash games but he’s a great GPP target.

A’s Hitters to Target

Secondary Options – Matt Olson, Matt Joyce

Home Run Pick – Robinson Cano
