2. Stoke get vital win over Crystal Palace in relegation battle

Stoke are another team mixed up in the relegation battle but their situation is a little more serious than Brighton’s. The Potters are facing the drop for the first time since their promotion to the top flight in 2008.

On Saturday, Paul Lambert’s men welcome fellow relegation candidates Crystal Palace to the Bet365 Stadium in a match that could have a huge bearing on the future of both these clubs. Palace have struggled for so much of this season, but a win here would almost guarantee their status as Premier League club.

Last weekend the Eagles had arguably their best performance of the campaign when they completely demolished Leicester 5-0 at Selhurst Park. This week they’ll face a much sterner test against a Stoke side that managed to keep a clean sheet against the free-scoring Liverpool.

The Potters has some hairy moments in that game but they showed why they’ve stayed in the Premier League for so long with their strong performance at the back. If they can replicate that, they’ll stand a very good chance of taking all three points in this match.

Palace look like a well organized side under Roy Hodgson and with Wilfried Zaha in the side they have a genuine attacking threat. Zaha can change a game just by being on the pitch as he takes defenders and midfielders out of position which allows his teammates more freedom.

Stopping Zaha will be the key to Stoke winning this match. They shouldn’t have a problem creating goalscoring opportunities, but the three points will come from being resolute at the back and stopping Palace’s attacking flow.
