6. Re-sign Michael Beasley

The decision to re-sign Beasley ultimately rests with the team’s front office, but Fizdale should push for it. The veteran forward is never going to live up to his talent, but that doesn’t mean he can’t be an effective player for the Knicks again next season.

Before you snicker at the idea of Beasley being an effective player, consider his stats from last season. He was fifth on the team with a respectable PER of 17.8. Beasley was a very efficient scorer for the Knicks second unit with a pretty high usage rate (26.9 percent).

That’s not something that could be easily replaced in free agency. Beasley only made a little over $2 million last season and isn’t going to cost much more than that to bring back. At that number, he’s an effective bench player for a team that really can use his scoring punch.
