Braves at Marlins

Braves Probable Starter – Mike Foltynewicz, RHP

3.65 ERA, 1.35 WHIP and 10.46 K/9

Vs LHH – .208 average, .311 wOBA and 38.0 hard contact rate

Vs RHH – .262 average, 3.19 wOBA and 39.6 hard contact rate

Of all the questionable pitching options on this slate, Foltynewicz might have the highest upside of almost anyone. The quality start has been elusive for the Braves hurler but his strikeout rate is very high and that helps offset his flaws. This game is in Miami so Foltynewicz sees a big positive park shift and the Marlins are in the top eight in strikeout percentage to righties. The price tag is right and pitching might carry some weird ownership this evening.

Marlins Hitters to Target

Elite Options – None

Secondary Options – J.T. Realmuto, Justin Bour

Marlins Probable Starter – Caleb Smith, LHP

3.67 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 12.68 K/9

Vs LHH – .205 average, .265 wOBA and 37.5 hard contact rate

Vs RHH – .174 average, .275 wOBA and 37.7 hard contact rate

If you’ve read this column lately, I usually love the Braves against any lefty. I might wind up tapping the brakes tonight as Smith has been excellent so far this year. His strikeout rate is through the roof, but it should be noted the Braves strike out the least amount against lefties in baseball. The other interesting note is Smith’s fly ball rate to righty hitters. He’s spiked at 55.8 percent and even in a pitcher’s haven, that’s not a recipe for long term success. Atlanta and Smith are both really good GPP plays tonight because of the wide range of outcomes.

Braves Hitters to Target

Elite Options – Ozzie Albies

Secondary Options – Ronald Acuna, Nick Markakis, Freddie Freeman

Home Run Pick – I really don’t have one for this game. Pitching in Miami could be rule this game.

MILWAUKEE, WI – APRIL 22: Christian Yelich #22 and Lorenzo Cain #6 of the Milwaukee Brewers celebrate with teammates after Yelich hit a home run in the fourth inning against the Miami Marlins at Miller Park on April 22, 2018 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. (Photo by Dylan Buell/Getty Images) /

Brewers at Rockies

Brewers Probable Starter – Jhoulys Chacin, RHP

4.08 ERA, 1.49 WHIP and 5.45 K/9

Vs LHH – .333 average, .418 wOBA and 40.9 hard contact rate

Vs RHH – .193 average, .252 wOBA and 40.3 hard contact rate

In case those splits didn’t tell you where we’re going in this game, I want any and all Rockies lefty batters. Chacin has been getting smacked around by them this year and that’s always been the weaker side of his platoon. Charlie Blackmon might be the best high priced hitter on the board tonight and one way to help afford him is David Dahl. FanDuel has put out some questionable pricing on hitters lately but this one is egregious at $3,000. Dahl is hitting .462 against lefties with a .540 wOBA. That’s one spot that is locked and loaded in every format possible. Carlos Gonzalez is the same boat although he hasn’t seen that level of success this year. My outfield might be all Rockies tonight.

Rockies Hitters to Target

Elite Options – Charlie Blackmon, David Dahl, Carlos Gonzalez

Secondary Options – Nolan Arenado, DJ LeMahieu, Trevor Story, Gerardo Parra

Rockies Probable Starter – German Marquez, RHP

4.76 ERA, 1.47 WHIP and 9.26 K/9

Vs LHH – .233 average, .278 wOBA and 28.6 hard contact rate

Vs RHH – .270 average, .373 wOBA and 28.9 hard contact rate

The Rockies pitchers so far this year have generally been a little better at home but they all forgot to give Marquez that memo. He’s been getting blistered at home to the tune of a 10.64 ERA and the Brewers are in a prime spot. I’m not terribly worried about the splits in this case and any Milwaukee bat could be in play. I mean, it is Coors Field. Some of the Brewers didn’t seem to get the Coors bump and Lorenzo Cain really stands out from the pack. He’s just $3,600 and will lead off against Marquez. I’m very interested at that price point.

Brewers Hitters to Target

Elite Options – Lorenzo Cain, Ryan Braun, Travis Shaw, Christian Yelich

Secondary Options – Domingo Santana, Jonathan Villar

Home Run Pick – Lorenzo Cain and David Dahl
