Nationals at Diamondbacks

Nationals Probable Starter – Tanner Roark, RHP

3.65 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 8.32 K/9

Vs LHH – .287 average, .313 wOBA and 29.8 hard contact rate

Vs RHH – .179 average, .258 wOBA and 31.4 hard contact rate

I don’t find myself using Tanner Roark a whole lot in daily fantasy because there isn’t much of a ceiling there. He’s actually not that bad of an option since the pitching is so weird tonight as he would seemingly be a lock for around 30 points, That might not sound great, but it’s better than a lot of other starters tonight. The Arizona offense actually has the fifth highest strikeout rate vs righty pitchers this season and a big reason has been the play of Paul Goldschmidt. He’s really been struggling by his standards, especially against righties. He’s down at a .190 average against them this year.

Diamondbacks Hitters to Target

Elite Options – A.J. Pollock, David Peralta

Secondary Options – Paul Goldschmidt, Nick Ahmed, Chris Owings

Diamondbacks Probable Starter – Kris Medlen, RHP

*All Stats from one start* 15.75 ERA, 3.25 WHIP and 9.00 K/9

Vs LHH – .500 average, .525 wOBA and 50.0 hard contact rate

Vs RHH – .421 average, .467 wOBA and 33.3 hard contact rate

Even though it was only one start, I wouldn’t expect things to go much better for Medlen tonight against the Nationals. Matt Adams is definitely an option even though it still seems weirs to type that when he’s $4,100. Perhaps the only other big name superstar that would rival Blackmon in Coors is Bryce Harper. He’s in a great matchup and is a hair cheaper than Blackmon. He also should see more pitches now that the Nationals lineup is healthier.

Nationals Hitters to Target

Elite Options – Bryce Harper, Matt Adams, Trea Turner

Secondary Options – Anthony Rendon, Wilmer Difo

Home Run Pick – This is a spot where Harper might leave the yard twice if Medlen stays in the game long enough

ANAHEIM, CA – APRIL 28: Los Angeles Angels pitcher Garrett Richards (43) throws a pitch in the shadows during a MLB game between the New York Yankees and the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim on April 28, 2018 at Angel Stadium of Anaheim in Anaheim, CA. Twins at Angels

Twins Probable Starter – Jose Berrios, RHP

3.98 ERA, 0.98 WHIP and 8.41 K/9

Vs LHH – .226 average, .296 wOBA and 25.8 hard contact rate

Vs RHH – .186 average, .227 wOBA and 18.0 hard contact rate

Looking at these metrics, one would think Berrios has been pretty good this year. That may have been the case early on but he has struggled mightily his past three starts. One was against the Yankees so we all know that’s a pitcher’s nightmare. Berrios posted an 18 point effort that night and followed it up with a -3 and another 18 his next two starts. Things aren’t going to get much easier tonight against the Angels and even at a depressed price, I’m steering clear of Berrios.

Angels Hitters to Target

Elite Options – Mike Trout, Shohei Ohtani

Secondary Options – Justin Upton, Andrelton Simmons

Angels Probable Starter – Garrett Richards, RHP

3.93 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and 11.80 K/9

Vs LHH – .174 average, .295 wOBA and 25.0 hard contact rate

Vs RHH – .250 average, .310 wOBA and 36.4 hard contact rate

Richards might be finding his groove as the season is wearing on. Throwing out his start against the Yankees(we’ll be doing that often this year), Richards has two 50+ point performances in his last three matchups. His strikeouts are coming back and that’s why he’s in play tonight at a tag of under $9,000. The Twins have a low strikeout rate against righties in 2018 but Richards can make any team look foolish. You can take a chance with some right bats from Minnesota, but I don’t think the Twins will be my main focus tonight.

Twins Hitters to Target –

Elite Options – Brian Dozier

Secondary Options – Eduardo Escobar

Home Run Pick – Shohei Ohtani
