Rangers at Astros

Rangers Probable Starter – Doug Fister, RHP

4.02 ERA, 1.53 WHIP and 7.18 K/9

Vs LHH – .182 average, .271 wOBA and 48.1 hard contact rate

Vs RHH – .393 average, .454 wOBA and 33.3 hard contact rate

It’s very clear what kind of bats we want to target against Fister tonight. In addition to the hard contact rate to lefties, Fister also has a ground ball rate over 60 percent. There’s really no upside to chase at that point. Even though the Astros got shutout last night, I just don’t play pitchers agains them, especially mediocre ones like Fister. I’ll take any righty bat that I can get for Houston tonight.

Astros Hitters to Target

Elite Options – Alex Bregman, Carlos Correa, Jose Altuve

Secondary Options – George Springer(if he plays), Yuli Gurriel

Astros Probable Starter – Charlie Morton, RHP

2.16 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 10.73 K/9

Vs LHH – .119 average, .211 wOBA and 25.0 hard contact rate

Vs RHH – .216 average, .293 wOBA and 26.9 hard contact rate

Morton has either been really good or flat awful his last three starts. He got hit around by the Angels, which makes sense. He then scored 60 points against the Yankees, of all teams. Last start, he scored a measly 15 points against the Diamondbacks. Every pitcher will have some rough starts here and there so Morton is definitely in play tonight. Texas is typically a strikeout heavy team so the upside is there for the Astros pitcher. He’s not someone I want to attack all that much with Rangers.

Rangers Hitters to Target

Elite Options – None

Secondary Options – Joey Gallo, Nomar Mazara

Home Run Pick – Alex Bregman
