FanDuel Lineup and Picks for Sunday, May 13
Rays at Orioles
Rays Probable Starter – Blake Snell, LHP
2.40 ERA, 0.95 WHIP and 9.25 K/9
Vs LHH – .115 average, .155 wOBA and 31.4 hard contact rate
Vs RHH – .215 average, .300 wOBA and 31.8 hard contact rate
I’m really bitter that I likely won’t play Snell today as he’s taken a massive step forward and might fly under the radar today. It’s hard to have a ton of confidence in Snell given the Orioles can roll out more righty bats than Snell can handle. He also sees a dramatic ballpark shift from Tropicana Field to Camden Yards. We’ll play Snell for sure somewhere down the road, but he is GPP only for today. The flip side of this equation is I really don’t want to play too many Orioles against him. Snell was excellent against Atlanta last time out, which is a better offense than the Orioles.
Orioles Hitters to Target
Elite Options – Manny Machado(red hot)
Secondary Options – None
Orioles Probable Starter – Dylan Bundy, RHP
5.31 ERA, 1.52 WHIP and 10.62 K/9
Vs LHH – .361 average, .423 wOBA and 31.8 hard contact rate
Vs RHH – .221 average, .340 wOBA and 36.4 hard contact rate
You’re going to have to be pretty brave to click “Submit” with Bundy as your starting pitcher today. His last three starts combined have netted him -6 FanDuel points. That’s right, he’s accumulated negative points in his last three starts when you combine all three. Bundy is a talented pitcher but we’ve seen this movie before. He’s either on his game or he gets whacked like a piñata. I’d take my shot with the lefty bats against him, which he gives up fly balls at a 47.7 percent clip.
Rays Hitters to Target
Elite Options – Brad Miller, Denard Span
Secondary Options – Mallex Smith, Matt Duffy, Carlos Gomez
Home Run Pick – Brad Miller
Red Sox at Blue Jays
Red Sox Probable Starter – Drew Pomeranz, LHP
5.23 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 8.71 K/9
Vs LHH – .200 average, .177 wOBA and 37.5 hard contact rate
Vs RHH – .311 average, .434 wOBA and 42.2 hard contact rate
This spot is very interesting as many players are going to load up on Blue Jay hitters. I can’t really blame them too much, but Pomeranz is better than his numbers indicate so far and he’s getting a little better each time out. He’s posted two straight quality starts against the Royals and at Yankee Stadium. While I have some interest in the high end bats for the Blue Jays, I don’t think I’m going to stack against Pomeranz today. He actually makes for a very intriguing GPP play. The price is excellent and he could strike out a fair share of Jays.
Blue Jays Hitters to Target
Elite Options – Josh Donaldson
Secondary Options – Yangervis Solarte, Kendrys Morales, Russell Martin, Kevin Pillar
Blue Jays Probable Starter – Joe Biagini, RHP
8.10 ERA, 2.00 WHIP and 7.20 K/9
Vs LHH – .375 average, .458 wOBA and 53.8 hard contact rate
Vs RHH – .286 average, .307 wOBA and 33.3 hard contact rate
I’m going to assume the Red Sox hitters are going to be some of the more popular plays of the day because Biagini has been getting smacked around in his 10 innings this year. While that’s not the largest sample ever, he does carry a 4.70 career ERA. The lefties stand out above the rest but there’s so many ways to attack Biagini, it’s hard to dislike any of them.
Red Sox Hitters to Target
Elite Options – Mookie Betts, Andrew Benintendi, Rafael Devers
Secondary Options – J.D. Martinez, Xander Bogaerts, Hanley Ramirez
Home Run Pick – Andrew Benintendi
