FanDuel Lineup and Picks for Sunday, May 13
Welcome into the Sunday edition of the FanDuel daily fantasy MLB column! We have a 10 game slate today which is a little larger than normal for a Sunday.
A very happy Mother’s Day to any moms that happen to be reading this article today! If you haven’t gotten your mom a card or a present yet, read the article to set your lineup first and then take care of Mom. Last night was another sweaty night as we were right on the edge of everything. It depended what 50/50 you were in as the Cody Bellinger chalk bit us. It’s very frustrating when one player makes that big of a difference on a larger slate, but that’s the way daily fantasy works somedays. Let’s dig into the 10 games this afternoon.
A’s at Yankees
A’s Probable Starter – Brett Anderson, LHP
8.68 ERA, 2.04 WHIP and 3.86 K/9
Vs LHH – .273 average, .310 wOBA and 36.4 hard contact rate
Vs RHH – .414 average, .497 wOBA and 36.0 hard contact rate
Anderson is a type of pitcher that I’m always torn on. His ERA and WHIP obviously stand out as something we want to attack in a major way. However, ground ball pitchers are always capable of annoying you and the offense you play against him. That result isn’t likely as the Yankee offense is awesome when it’s hitting on all cylinders. The righties for New York are the obvious targets here and some of them are pretty reasonable in price. Anderson’s ground ball rate to righties is just 44 percent so he should struggle against this lineup.
Yankee Hitters to Target
Elite Options – Aaron Judge, Gary Sanchez, Aaron Hicks, Gleyber Torres
Secondary Options – Miguel Andujar, Didi Gregorius
Yankees Probable Starter – Luis Severino, RHP
2.21 ERA, 0.87 WHIP and 10.70 K/9
Vs LHH – .169 average, .236 wOBA and 32.5 hard contact rate
Vs RHH – .186 average, .220 wOBA and 23.3 hard contact rate
I think I may have mentioned this before, but I usually find a reason to not play Severino. Today might be different as he is priced $800 less than Corey Kluber. That’s not insignificant and the matchup is a little scary. Oakland is 15th or better in average, OPS, ISO and wOBA against righties. They also carry a 23.8 strikeout percentage which is good for 11th in the league. Severino is absolutely the only player from this side of the game that I’d want to play. One-offs for Oakland might be getting too cute, but an Oakland stack could work out great in GPP’s. Nobody is going to play a bunch of them and if Severino gets blown up, you should skyrocket up the board.
