Derrick Rose

You might asking yourself, “Why is Derrick Rose on this list? Even Minnesota Timberwolves fans hate Derrick Rose.”

You might be a Minnesota Timberwolves fan and you may be thinking, “I hate Derrick Rose. And he’s on my team.”

I get it. But this slide is 100 percent directed at Tom Thibodeau. For this slide only, we’re changing the title of this article to “1 athlete everyone hates even if he plays for your team (unless you are Tom Thibodeau).” It’s not quite as catchy, but it’s only for a slide.

Dear Tom,

No one likes Derrick Rose. And it’s not that we don’t like him because of his off the court issues, although that definitely plays a part in things. We don’t like him because he still thinks he’s MVP Rose and you feed into that mentality.

We’d like Rose if he played 12-15 minutes a night and was used as a microwave scorer off the bench. Maybe he plays more minutes if he really has it going one night. Otherwise, limit him to the equivalent of Raymond Felton and there’s very little wrong with Rose in 2018.

But you’re playing him 20-plus minutes in the playoffs. What is wrong with you?

Signed, every Wolves fan.

Fans of other teams actually love Rose on the Wolves. Because they know he’s going to get 20-plus minutes. If fans cheer when an opposing player checks in, it’s either a homecoming or it’s because they know the guy is going to do more to help their team than help his own.

No one likes Rose. He’s not the pesky player who gets under your skin. He’s not one of the best ever who kills your team. He’s just Tom Thibodeau’s favorite player.
