Denver Broncos: Was Case Keenum a one-year wonder in Minnesota?

The Denver Broncos had the defense to win the AFC West last season, but they had a glaring hole at the quarterback position. The team trotted out guys like Brock Osweiler, Paxton Lynch, and Trevor Siemian, who just should not be starting NFL games at this point.

Heading into the offseason, it appeared the team was going to draft a quarterback in the first round, as they had a top-10 pick, and they certainly needed one. However, they made a move prior to the draft to minimize that need, when they signed Case Keenum to be their signal-caller for the next few seasons.

While that would not normally be a big move, Keenum did some big things in 2017. The veteran led the Minnesota Vikings all the way to the NFC Championship Game, where they lost to the Philadelphia Eagles. Still, he played tremendous in big spots, and earned his new contract with the Broncos.

With Keenum under contract, the team can slow the push with Lynch, who was drafted by the team in the first round of the 2016 NFL Draft. Many believe he will never be ready to be a franchise quarterback, so this stop for Keenum could wind up being a long-term one.

The question that must be on the minds of Broncos fans is whether or not Keenum is a one-year wonder. Remember, Osweiler played well enough for the Houston Texans to give him a huge deal at one time, so they have been fooled before. Keenum may not be John Elway, but he is going to lead them to some wins next season for sure.
