Jacksonville Jaguars: Did the team do enough to take the next step in 2018?

The Jacksonville Jaguars surprised a lot of people last season, coming out of the AFC South, and making it all the way to the AFC Championship Game. In fact, they should have punched their ticket to the Super Bowl, as they held a ten-point lead against the New England Patriots heading into the fourth quarter of the title game.

The Patriots, however, came alive in the fourth quarter, ending the Jaguars season inside Gillette Stadium in Foxborough. For the Jaguars, it was an incredible step forward as an organization, as they appear to be making all the right moves to make the franchise a winner.

This offseason, the Jaguars had the luxury of having most of their starters from last season under contract. That meant that they could go out and add depth to certain positions, and did not have to reach in the NFL Draft. Their first round pick, Taven Bryan, is one of the best defensive lineman in the draft class, so they definitely hit a home run with the selection.

In addition to Bryan, the team added a solid safety via the NFL Draft in Alabama’s Ronnie Harrison. They also brought in Donte Moncrief from Indianapolis, who will attempt to fill the void left by the tandem of Allen Hurns and Allen Robinson next season.

The team made a commitment to quarterback Blake Bortles this offseason, and it remains to be seen if that move is going to pay off in the long run. The Jaguars are not going to surprise anybody this season, but with the roster they currently have, they won’t have to. The question is, did they do enough this offseason?
