Indianapolis Colts: Is Andrew Luck done?

It has been nearly 500 days since Andrew Luck threw a football, and that is pretty alarming for Indianapolis Colts fans all over the world. When healthy, Luck is one of the best quarterbacks in the league, but after over a year and a half, you have to wonder if his golden right arm will ever be the same.

Luck had surgery on the right shoulder in January 2017, and the expectation was he would be ready for the season opener of that season. As the weeks passed, it became clear that the quarterback would not be back under center any time soon, and now questions linger as to whether he will be back in 2018.

Even bigger than if he will be back in 2018, is if he will be back ever. Luck should have been under center last season according to the Colts, who appear to have no idea what to tell people when it comes to their franchise quarterback. They appear to be confident they will get him back, but that remains to be seen.

During the 2018 NFL Draft, the Colts did not select a quarterback, even though they held a top-10 pick. While that says a lot about how they feel about Luck’s recovery, they also held on to Jacoby Brissett for dear life when teams reached out about his availability this offseason.

If Luck cannot return, it is such a sad story, as the organization did nothing to protect him during his time as their starting quarterback. They finally drafted an elite offensive lineman in the first round this past April, but unfortunately for Colts fans, it may be too late.
