Seattle Seahawks: Can the defense still be a force?

The Seahawks are going to look very different once September rolls around. We are used to seeing some of the best faces in the game on the defensive side of the ball playing for the Legion of Boom, namely Earl Thomas, Kam Chancellor and Richard Sherman.

This year, Thomas should still be suiting up in Seattle provided he eventually reports, but Sherman was released and Chancellor may never play again due to a neck injury. Sherman, to make matters worse, signed with the rival San Francisco 49ers, getting to see the Seahawks twice per season.

There were even more losses in the fronts even with the defections of Sheldon Richardson, Cliff Avril (retirement due to a neck injury as well) and Michael Bennett, who was traded for picks to the Philadelphia Eagles. In the draft, Seattle didn’t do much to inspire confidence that the defense would return to its old form in quick fashion, leaving the question of what to expect from that dgroup?
