Buffalo Bills: Does Josh Allen start in Week 1?

The Buffalo Bills entered the 2018 NFL Draft looking for a quarterback, and that was evident when they traded up to No. 12 overall in the weeks leading up to it. Not happy with No. 12, the Bills traded up again to No. 7, where they selected Wyoming signal-caller Josh Allen.

In the days heading into the NFL Draft, Allen went through some personal stuff, as old tweets came to light that painted him in a not so friendly way. However, he has a proven track record of being a good teammate, and human being, so the Bills pulled the trigger on a guy who could have the highest ceiling of the group.

Now the waiting game starts in Western New York, where the team is looking for their first true franchise quarterback since Jim Kelly. There have been plenty of quarterbacks who have put on the jersey and tried to lead this team to the playoffs, but they have been there only one time since 1999.

That happened last year with Tyrod Taylor under center, but he is now in Cleveland, and Allen will have to battle against free agent signing A.J. McCarron, and Nathan Peterman, who was thrown into the fire last season as a rookie, tossing five interceptions against a very good Los Angeles Chargers defense.

The guess here is that McCarron gets the nod to start Week 1, and he has looked good in spurts backing up Andy Dalton for his entire NFL career. Allen is going to  get a shot at some point during his rookie season, and should enter the summer above Peterman on the depth chart, and behind McCarron.
