Astros at Yankees

Astros Probable Starter – Charlie Morton, RHP

2.04 ERA, 0.97 WHIP and 30.7 strikeout rate

Vs LHH – .136 average, .214 wOBA, 31.0 fly ball rate and 34.0 hard contact rate

Vs RHH – .222 average, .296 wOBA, 24.1 fly ball rate and 25.3 hard contact rate

Morton tends to be a player that I feel is a bit more trustworthy in a matchup with the Yankees because he generates so many ground balls. It’s up over 54 percent on the season and when you combine that with the strikeout percentage, Morton is a pitcher who can find success against New York. He’s already done it once this season, when he struck out 10 Yankees over the course of 7.2 scoreless innings.

This side of the game is nothing more than GPP fodder on a slate this size. It’s a lot like yesterday. Morton could go out and dominate, making Yankee hitters crippling to a lineup as they sit on a zero. New York could also smash Morton and your night could be over very early. Aaron Judge, Gleyber Torres and Gary Sanchez all are hitting the curveball well this year and if Morton hangs one, look out.

Yankees Hitters to Target

Elite Options – None

Secondary Options – Aaron Judge, Giancarlo Stanton, Gary Sanchez, Gleyber Torres

Yankees Probable Starter – C.C. Sabathia, LHP

3.55 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 17.4 strikeout rate

Vs LHH – .237 average, .339 wOBA, 33.3 fly ball rate and 22.2 hard contact rate

Vs RHH – .231 average, .293 wOBA, 37.5 fly ball rate and 31.7 hard contact rate

The wheels have started to come off for Sabathia after a hot start to the year. That’s not the sentence you want to hear if you’re a Yankees fan headed into a matchup with the Astros in Yankee Stadium. Houston hasn’t even started hitting lefties as well as they can yet and that should scare the rest of baseball. Jose Altuve is turning it on and he could be a great one-off. There’s a real chance I have at least one lineup with a full on Astros stack tonight. One very cheap player that would save a ton of salary if he plays is Max Stassi. He’s smashed lefties so far and is just $2,500.

Astros Hitters to Target

Elite Options – Jose Altuve, George Springer, Alex Brgeman, Carlos Correa

Secondary Options – Max Stassi, Evan Gattis, Brian McCann

Home Run Pick – Max Stassi if he plays and Alex Bregman

Nationals at Orioles

Nationals Probable Starter – Jeremy Hellickson, RHP

2.13 ERA, 0.89 WHIP and 21.8 strikeout rate

Vs LHH – .238 average, .301 wOBA, 27.3 fly ball rate and 29.8 hard contact rate

Vs RHH – .154 average, .170 wOBA, 27.8 fly ball rate and 34.2 hard contact rate

I’m waiting for Hellickson to come back down to Earth because there is no reason to think he’s this good at this stage of his career. I’ve been saying that for seven starts now and he does have a pretty solid matchup on hand tonight. Camden Yards isn’t the greatest place to pitch in but the Orioles have their issues with righty pitching. The majority of their lineup falls on the better side of the split as well. Hellickson himself isn’t that attractive because he lacks the strikeout upside. He also only has one quality start under his belt. The only two hitters I’d chase are Pedro Alvarez and Manny Machado.

Orioles Hitters to Target

Elite Options – Manny Machado

Secondary Options – Pedro Alvarez

Orioles Probable Starter – Dylan Bundy, RHP

4.45 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 29.0 strikeout rate

Vs LHH – .291 average, .372 wOBA, 51.2 fly ball rate and 33.3 hard contact rate

Vs RHH – .191 average, .303 wOBA, 48.1 fly ball rate and 35.4 hard contact rate

The ERA is still inflated from his unmitigated disaster against the Royals at the start of the month. Bundy gave up seven earned runs without recording an out. Since then, he’s been worlds better. Bundy has recorded 70 and 52 points in two of the three games since that start. Since the splits are so drastic for him, there’s a realistic shot that Bundy could be good tonight. The issue comes from the lefties the Nationals have could easily take Bundy out of the ball park. Matt Adams and Bryce Harper are both up there in price and Harper would be my preferred target. Juan Soto is starting to come back down in price but I’d lean towards the veteran Bundy in that matchup.

Nationals Hitters to Target

Elite Options – Bryce Harper, Matt Adams

Secondary Options – Juan Soto, Trea Turner

Home Run Pick – Pedro Alvarez
