At this point, success doesn’t mean too much as it pertains to how “cool” a head coach is. It just depends on the track record of entertainment and the overall “cool factor” that each head coach brings to the table every year.

In that regard, the head coach of the Texas Tech Red Raiders is extremely popular among his own fan base and college football fans around the nation altogether. Kliff Kingsbury is one of the younger and trendier head coaches in existence over the past five years.

The problem that Kingsbury encounters comes with his job security entering the 2018 regular season. Few coaches, if any, in the nation are on a hotter seat than Kingsbury with Texas Tech this year. He fell short of qualifying the Red Raiders for bowl eligibility yet again.

Even though Kingsbury did rack up a key victory against an in-state rival during Thanksgiving week over the Texas Longhorns, that wasn’t enough to keep his seat cool. He needs to rack up at least six or seven wins for Texas Tech this year, and he’ll be able to be found on a list like this again in 2019.
