Average drivers (between $9,000 and $10,500)

Kurt Busch ($10,500) – Hasn’t finished outside the top 10 in this race since 2009, and no, that’s not a typo. The only question is whether he can challenge for a win, which seems unlikely barring bad luck for the two powerhouse drivers, and whether you can afford this much salary for a “safe” pick.

Chase Elliott ($10,100) – Made an impressive charge on Saturday despite being saddled with a restrictor plate, and has been good at Pocono in his young Cup Series career. Starting 11th gives him a little upside as well.

Ryan Blaney ($10,000) – Yes, he’s been breaking your heart in recent weeks, we get it. Still, he won this race last year and qualified on the pole, and he’s yours for the perfectly average salary of 10 grand. You have to consider him.

Erik Jones ($9,700) – Finished third here as a rookie, which is super impressive no matter how you slice it. Slow in qualifying, but that gives him the chance at some decent positional points since he’s starting 25th. Seems worth it as a money-saving option in this tier.
