5. New Orleans Pelicans

BRING CHRIS PAUL BACK TO THE BIG EASY!

In all seriousness, it is a great place for him and the team. If they can find a way to bring him in, they will be formidable. He would join a team that was tremendous after going small last year. Having a star as transcendent as Anthony Davis would be special for Paul.

So picture this starting lineup: Chris Paul, Jrue Holiday, E’twaun Moore, Nikola Mirotic, and Anthony Davis. Holiday could take defensive responsibility off of Paul by taking on the other team’s best guard. This allows Paul to focus on the offensive end of the floor where the Pelicans will be fun.

Moore and Mirotic provide spacing on the floor for Paul to operate. Then, if he has a favorable matchup, Davis can take his man outside with him too, removing help defense from Paul. So this would be a lineup with 2 players who can go to work in isolation, Paul and Davis, as well as one that can win with ball movement.

Defensively, they would be hard to score against as well. Paul is a nine-time All-Defensive team player, Jrue Holiday showed defensive prowess last year, and Anthony Davis’s 2.6 blocks per game with protect the rim.

Chris Paul to the Pelicans is everything. He’d be going home. They’d have a dynamic offense. They’d have a solid defense. It doesn’t seem very likely, but would be really cool to see happen.
