1. Ryan Tannehill will get benched

It’s hard to believed the fresh-faced quarterback will turn 30 in July. That’s a harsh reminder that Tannehill isn’t a quarterback prospect anymore. At this age, he’s largely the player he will ultimately become.

Unfortunately for Gase and the coaching staff, that player isn’t good enough to be a starting quarterback in the NFL. Even if he comes back fully healthy after missing all of 2017, he doesn’t have the talent to carry a competent passing attack.

His propensity to turn the football over will ultimately be his undoing. Tannehill has never thrown less than 12 interceptions in a full season. That number would be somewhat acceptable if he was a prolific touchdown passer. His TD totals have declined steadily  since the 2014 season.

Gase will give Tannehill every chance to succeed as the starter, but he won’t get the job done. Look for the coaching staff to finally give up on him as the starter somewhere around Week 10. That might be about the time the Dolphins fall out of playoff contention as well. The quarterback problem will continue to be an issue for Miami, but this season will make it clear Tannehill is not the solution.
