2. 2015: NBA Finals vs. Golden State Warriors (lost series 4-2)
Series Averages: 35.8 points,13.3 rebounds, 8.8 assists, 39.8 FG%, 45:52 minutes
In hist first season back in Cleveland, with Kevin Love and Kyrie Irving out, LeBron did what he’s done almost more times than I can count – took a garbage team into a series against a juggernaut and made the series somehow competitive.
LeBron is basically Leonidas in the movie 300 (or Leonidas in actual history at the Battle of Thermopylae if you paid attention in history or have access to Wikipedia). Yea, he ultimately got slaughtered, but he put up a really impressive fight and made it way more of a challenge than it should have been for the other guys.
The 35.8 points and 13.3 rebounds he averaged against Xerxes… I mean Steph Curry and the Warriors in 2015 were career highs in a playoff series. The 32.7 shots per game were also the most he’s ever taken and the 39.8 percent he shot from the floor was the worst of his career. But they weren’t going to steal two games to push the series to six with the other starters, Delly, Mosgov, and Iman Shumpert, carrying the scoring load.
Best Game: Game 2 (Cavs 95 – Warriors 93)
Although it took him 34 shots to score 39 points, he played over 50 minutes and had 16 rebounds and 11 assists to beat the Warriors in overtime at Oracle Arena and tied the series at a game apiece.
