2. Philadelphia 76ers

It’s called J.J. Redick money.

Last summer Philadelphia threw a one-year pay day at the sharpshooter, valuing his offensive abilities and playoff experience, but also recognizing the former Duke star’s age.

Maybe Philadelphia believes Redick is vital to the team’s improvement. Maybe they remember his inbounds blunder against Boston in the playoffs. Maybe they decide to throw the J.J. dollars elsewhere.

Enter Will Barton, a man in need of money.

Philadelphia is not cash-strapped, at least not yet, so bringing in a player like Barton on a deal similar to Redick’s or for more total money but spread out over more years makes sense. Some insurance may also be necessary on the perimeter considering Ben Simmons’ limited range, Markelle Fultz’s fascination with riddles and Robert Covington’s vanishing acts.
