2. Fred VanVleet

VanVleet helped make Toronto’s bench last year one of the best in the league. He also proved he’s capable of starting in the playoffs. If Rondo’s not around, VanVleet’s not a bad replacement. He may even have more to offer over the course of an entire season than a veteran player who exists now more as a meme: #PlayoffRondo.

Other options for replacing Rondo could include Elfrid Payton or Dwyane Wade. But neither is likely. What the Pelicans have to hope is that promising minutes and playoff action can possibly offset the difference in dollars some of these guys could earn playing elsewhere. That, or don’t invest in Cousins.
