NBA Free Agency 2018: Winners, losers, and shockers
Shockers: Golden State Warriors
They sat back and waited, fat and happy after winning their third championship in four years. Then, before the dust from LeBron’s earth-shattering announcement even settled, they dropped the hammer.
They went and got DeMarcus Cousins to join them on a one-year deal for the mini mid-level exception of $5.3 million.
Sure, Cousins will miss at least half the season as he rehabs and recovers from his torn Achilles, but they don’t need him to be the best team in the league. They already were. Anything he adds will be all gravy.

Of course, the flip side is if Golden State doesn’t win it all, he’ll carry the brunt of the blame. Right now though, that feels like a big if. They just turned the Lineup of Death into the Lineup of Decimation.
Fresh off a championship run, the Warriors stay winning. Maybe that shouldn’t have come as a shock at all.
