Shockers: Oklahoma City Thunder

Nobody, and I mean NOBODY thought Paul George would stay in Oklahoma City. From the time they acquired him last season, George’s free agency countdown clock appeared for when his L.A. dreams would inevitably manifest themselves.

The Thunder showed why bringing in flight risks and showing them love can work out in your favor. Yes, they currently have the highest payroll in the NBA. But without George, they’d still have the fourth-highest and be a considerably worse team.

At least now they’ll be a second-tier playoff seed with a puncher’s chance at pulling off a major upset to a top dog.
