3. 25th Anniversary Tribute Alternate

Yes, a majority of the hockey world was beyond excited to see the Anaheim Ducks 25th Anniversary third jersey unveiled this offseason, and in large part, because the original Mighty Ducks logo was reintroduced.

The team’s latest alternate sweater that’s scheduled to take to the ice at the Pond on opening night, Oct. 8, against the Detroit Red Wings does finish in the top three, but there are still some adjustments that are needed.

Yes, Anaheim incorporated aspects from all of the team’s jersey history, but the base color shouldn’t be black. The Ducks did a fantastic job reintroducing the diagonal stripes and modernizing them, but if Anaheim is going to bring back that design then this jersey’s primary color should be the classic eggplant purple.

Also, this jersey could probably do without the shoulder yokes and the Ducks’ primary logo as the shoulder patches. The webbed “D” on the shoulders gives this jersey a busy appearance and this hockey jersey enthusiast believes it portrays an American Hockey League (AHL) flair.

As for the collar area of the sweater, the eggplant patch that the NHL logo is located on is a nice touch, but the collar would look better if it was white and Jade.

Though, there are two minor and positive characteristics that this jersey entails. The numbering and font are the same “webbed” theme used on the team’s current jerseys, and the Anaheim Ducks Orange is used for the crossed hockey sticks; which makes the logo more vibrant and modern. It will be interesting to see if the team proceeds to make any modifications to this third jersey after 2019.
