2. Jacksonville Jaguars

The Jaguars have a Super Bowl caliber team, but their quarterback could cost them a chance to win a championship. It’s possible Blake Bortles is better than Bridgewater, but it’s not a certainty. At the very least, Jacksonville should be looking to bring in an alternative in case Bortles gets off to a poor start.

In many ways, Bridgewater’s time in Minnesota makes him the perfect quarterback to help lead the Jaguars. Bridgewater was expected to manage the game for the Vikings and let the defense win the day. The same formula is currently in place with the Jaguars.

The reality is Bortles might be the most divisive quarterback in the league. Some scouts think it’s a travesty he gets to be a starter for a playoff team. When you watch his film you see some really horrible throws. He’s got the athleticism and arm strength to make big plays, but he’s so inconsistent it’s tough to build an offense around him.

More accepting observers of Bortles’ game think he’s a decent NFL quarterback. The real question is whether or not the Jaguars should be settling on a quarterback who might be able to perform as an average NFL starter. If Jacksonville really wants to win a Super Bowl, the answer to that question is no. Swinging a deal for Bridgewater would send a clear signal that the Jaguars are really going for it this season. It’s a deal the team should make.
