4. Royce Freeman, Denver Broncos

Freeman is a curious case who sits this high in my rankings based on opportunity. My opinion of him coming out of college wasn’t to glowing. He ran with a lack of urgency while showing a questionable burst.

His bigger frame didn’t get much use as Freeman wasn’t exactly moving the pile. However, there were times he flashed and showed the ability to contribute at the next level.

Denver really believes in his talent using a third round pick to get his services. Freeman is currently locked in a training camp battle with Devontae Booker for the lead running back role. Booker really hasn’t done much with his opportunities to date which bodes well for Freeman.

It seems likely that both players will remain in the mix for the early part of the season. However, the momentum seems to be leaning in favor of Freeman getting a bulk of the action.

The Broncos are working with a revamped offensive attack. Bill Musgrave is in his first year as full-time offensive coordinator. The team has a new starting quarterback in journeyman Case Keenum.

Their offensive line should be strong with Garrett Bolles, Ronald Leary, Jared Veldheer, Matt Paradis and Connor McGovern. Veldheer is an upgrade at right tackle if he’s able to stay healthy.
