During his high school career, Dwayne Haskins dominated the Maryland scene, throwing for 54 touchdowns for the Bullis School. When it came time to pick a school, he initially committed to play at Maryland, staying home, but instead decided to change his mind and go to Ohio State to play for Urban Meyer.

After sitting out 2016 as a redshirt, Haskins played as the backup to J.T. Barrett last season. While he did not play much, he did give Buckeyes fans a flash of what he could do, as he led Ohio State to a comeback victory over Michigan when Barrett got hurt in the third quarter.

Haskins finished that game 6-for-7 with 94 yards, leading Ohio State to a 31-20 victory against their hated rival.

With Barrett out of eligibility, and Joe Burrows transferring to LSU, the starting quarterback job is all Haskins’ entering the 2018 season. Haskins is a little different than the quarterbacks that Meyer is used to, as he loves to make plays with his arm before his feet, though he is very good at using both.

Being a starter for the first time in the Big Ten is no easy task, but Haskins has the luxury of having two stud running backs behind him in J.K. Dobbins and Mike Weber. When you add to that the fact that he has some experienced wide receivers as well, he is going to be in for one heck of a first season as the starter in Columbus.

Ohio State has been in the news in recent weeks due to Meyer being placed on administrative leave, but he is expected back and will have a solid signal-caller in Haskins leading his offense in 2018.
