To say that Kyler Murray is a good athlete would be arguably the biggest understatement in college sports. In fact, not only is Murray the starting quarterback at one of the biggest programs in the country, he is also their baseball team’s starting centerfield, who played his way into being the No. 9 overall pick in the 2018 MLB Draft.

Murray burst onto the scene during his high school days at Allen High School in Texas, where he was a two-time Mr. Texas in football. In addition, he was the 2014 Gatorade Player of the Year, and after going 42-0 as a starting quarterback, including three straight state titles, he made his way to Texas A&M.

Serving as the backup to Kyle Allen during his freshman year, Murray got his chance to start later in the season, with his first start coming against South Carolina. In that game, Murray joined Cam Newton as the only quarterbacks in SEC history to gain 100 yards on the ground and through the air in the same game, while nabbing a touchdown on the ground and through the air as well in their first start.

After the 2015 season, Murray made the decision to transfer to Oklahoma and had to sit out the 2016 campaign. In 2017, he served as the backup to Baker Mayfield, who just happened to go on to be the No. 1 overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft. With Mayfield gone, it is Murray’s turn to lead the Sooners.

Unfortunately for Sooners fans, Murray will only be with the team for the 2018 season. He has already decided to end his football career after this Fall, focusing on his career with the Oakland Athletics, who happened to give him a $4.66 million signing bonus.
